Gregory Makela
Private Wealth Advisor, Chartered Market Technician
Passion and commitment are defining characteristics of my approach to serving clients. I bring a quantitative focus to investment solutions for client objectives, within the full range of changing market and life conditions.
I joined EMBREE FINANCIAL in 2021 from Morgan Stanley, where I was Senior Portfolio Manager in the Wealth Management Group. I also previously served in the Institutional Equities division.
I am a Chartered Market Technician (CMT) and earned a BA in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I completed an Executive Education program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. I am also a Managing Partner of Stone Blue Capital LLC, an incubator of quantitative investment solutions.
I am a lapsed musician, and I’m now regularly lapped in the pool. An avid sportsman, I play golf and tennis, and love diving reefs and wrecks around the world.
Areas of expertise
Portfolio Management
I provide a suite of adaptive strategies across multiple asset classes — long/short, position and swing trading. The customization I provide begins with your risk budget. We solve for low volatility, max growth, or somewhere in-between. Leveraged implementations are also available.
Risk Management
Most clients want to get from Point A to Point B with as little risk as possible. They seek comfort in knowing the plan for managing risk is based on their own goals and tolerance. Our shared goal is to earn high risk-adjusted returns while avoiding large drawdowns.
Options Strategies
I can help clients seeking alternative methods of income, risk management, and speculation with systematic options strategies. Available in conservative, moderate, and aggressive implementations.
